Victor Valdes sustained a gruesome injury to his leg during Middlesbrough’s draw with Manchester City in the Premier League.
The former Barcelona goalkeeper was caught on his right thigh by the boot of fellow Spaniard Jesus Navas at the end of the first half at the Etihad.
The impact left Valdes with a deep gash at the point of impact.
He received treatment on the injury but was fine to continue and completed the match for the visitors.
It appeared as though City striker Sergio Aguero’s 43rd-minute strike was going to be enough to clinch all three points for Pep Guardiola’s side, but Boro stunned the top flight leaders in the first minute of injury time as Martin De Roon headed home a late equaliser.
