Last night, popular American blog Industry on the Blast, shared the wedding anniversary photos of Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and her husband Matthew Ekeinde, and the blog introduced the screen goddess as an “actress in Africa”. However, many of their readers already know about the veteran actress and admitted to watching her movies on Netflix.
“She is a great actress,” one of them said, while another added that “the couple look like best friends.”
And for the few who made crappy statements, they were quickly called out for the unkind comments by the readers who largely have nice things to say.
The positive reactions comes as a surprise especially because most Nigerian stories shared on American blogs are many times met with derision.
Recall that Nigerians and Americans are always at war on social media. In April, top blog The Shade Room shared a photo of Egusi soup and fufu and Americans following the blog made banters and used derogatory terms to describe the food, comments which Nigerians on the page didn’t find funny. Before then was the January feud after a blog shared rapper Olamide’s photo and the readers called him a homosexual. The most recent battle started after the American readers mocked Davido.
And so, when yesterday’s readers largely had kind things to say about Jalade-Ekeinde, we thought to share.
